Shipping box dieline template

The regular slotted container (RSC) is the plain shipping box that moves most of the world’s parcels. It is glued along one edge and taped top and bottom, so the dieline is simpler than a mailer box, but the glue flap and flap depths still trip people up. Design directly onto it in 3D.

Corrugated converters sometimes ask for more bleed than folding carton. Most printers ask for 3 mm (1/8 in) bleed and a 3 to 5 mm safe margin. Always check your printer’s own spec before you send files.

How to read this dieline

Every Packaroo dieline uses the same four line types.

Cut line

The outside edge of the pack. Anything past this line is trimmed off.

Fold line

Where the board or film folds. Keep text and logos about 3 mm away so they do not land on a crease.

Bleed

Extend background colours and images to this line so no white edge shows if the cut shifts.

Safe area

Keep text, barcodes and logos inside this line, usually 3 to 5 mm inside the cut.

Before you design

RSC or mailer box?

An RSC has four top and four bottom flaps that meet in the middle and are taped shut; a mailer box has a hinged lid and tucks closed without tape. RSCs are cheaper per unit and faster to pack; mailers give a better unboxing.

Printing on an RSC

The outer flaps overlap the inner ones, so artwork on the inner flaps is hidden once the box is sealed. Most brands print the four side panels and the outer top flaps, and keep the glue flap clear.

Design it in 3D instead

In Packaroo you drop your artwork onto this dieline, see it as a 3D pack you can spin, check bleed and safe area, then export a spec pack your supplier can quote from. Start on the free plan, then export a spec pack for A$15, or subscribe if you export often.

Frequently asked questions

What does RSC stand for?

Regular slotted container: the standard shipping box style where all flaps are the same depth and the outer flaps meet in the centre.

Where is the glue flap on the dieline?

It is the narrow panel at one end of the sheet. Keep it free of artwork; it is glued inside the opposite panel.

Can I print on all sides?

Yes, but inner flaps are hidden when the box is sealed, so most brands print only the four side panels and the outer top flaps.

Can I resize it?

Yes. Open the shipping box in Packaroo and set any internal dimensions.

Can I design on this template?

Yes. Open it in Packaroo, drop in your artwork and see it in 3D on the free plan. A spec pack export for your supplier is A$15.
