Seam: some labellers want a small gap between the label ends, others a small overlap. Ask yours. A sleek can is a different shape from a standard can and needs its own template.

How to read this dieline

Every Packaroo dieline uses the same four line types.

Cut line

The outside edge of the pack. Anything past this line is trimmed off.

Fold line

Where the board or film folds. Keep text and logos about 3 mm away so they do not land on a crease.

Bleed

Extend background colours and images to this line so no white edge shows if the cut shifts.

Safe area

Keep text, barcodes and logos inside this line, usually 3 to 5 mm inside the cut.

Before you design

The seam

Where the two ends of a wrap label meet, keep text and barcodes well clear and let the background colour continue across. Rotate the can in Packaroo’s 3D view to check what sits at the back.

Neck and base

Labels stop short of the neck taper and the base rim, so a label is always shorter than the can. Printing to the full can height is only possible with a shrink sleeve or direct print on the can.

Design it in 3D instead

In Packaroo you drop your artwork onto this dieline, see it as a 3D pack you can spin, check bleed and safe area, then export a spec pack your supplier can quote from. Start on the free plan, then export a spec pack for A$15, or subscribe if you export often.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a label and a shrink sleeve?

A label is a flat printed wrap applied to the straight wall of the can. A shrink sleeve covers the whole can including the taper and needs distortion-compensated artwork, which most first runs do not use.

Where do I put the barcode?

On the back of the can, vertical, within the safe area and never across the seam, with clear space around it.

Do I need the nutrition panel at a set size?

In most markets, yes. Check your local regulations for minimum text height; the safe area keeps the panel clear of the seam and trim but does not check legal sizes.

Can I preview my can in 3D?

Yes. Upload the label artwork in Packaroo and it wraps onto a 3D can you can spin.

Can I design on this template?

Yes. Open it in Packaroo, drop in your artwork and see it in 3D on the free plan. A spec pack export for your supplier is A$15.
