Telescope box dieline (lid and base)

A telescope box (FEFCO 0300) is two trays: a base and a lid that slides over it. A full-depth lid makes a sturdy box; a shallow lid makes a gift box. Set any inside size in Packaroo and check both parts in 3D.

Every design exports as a spec pack your printer can quote from: layered dieline, 3D renders, spec sheet and prepress report.

How to read this dieline

The line types on this dieline, and what each one means.

Cut line

The outside edge of the pack. Anything past this line is trimmed off.

Bleed

Extend background colours and images to this line so no white edge shows if the cut shifts.

Safe area

Keep text, barcodes and logos inside this line. 3 to 5 mm inside the cut is a common starting point.

Before you design

Two pieces

The lid and the base are separate parts, each with its own walls and corner flaps. Check in 3D which lid walls stay on show when the box is closed.

Board

The presets start with E or B flute corrugated, and 450 gsm artboard for the shallow gift lid. Your supplier confirms the board.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a telescope box and a mailer box?

A mailer box is one sheet with a hinged lid. A telescope box is two pieces, a base and a separate lid, which suits gift boxes, shoe boxes and keepsake boxes.
